Updated: (03/07/08)

First week download numbers are in and it’s a shocking ~8464 downloads. With EH2 we saw just a little above 5,000 in the first week. Perhaps we should all get wasted and try to do some tricking to celebrate? No? Could make for some funny bloopers for EH4. Anyways thanks guys for all the downloads and comments!

Downloads by week

  • ~8,464 First Week
  • ~10,180 Second Week

I will add a Mirror as soon as I got the Files.

I think its pretty much handled. But if you do e-mail them to me at Justin.Sanchez at Gmail.com that way I can add them to Own-Age.com and it will track downloads. So if you do please do that so I can track downloads.

Low quality on own-age was broken and full quality failed, giving some random error trying to unzip. I’ll try from here instead.

    Fabulous …

Managed to get it from q-n fine.
Now to the feedback, without sounding too negative.

First part, extremely confusing when doing 3:rd to 1:st person and multi-angles the way it was done, took away A MASSIVE part of the entire feel of continuity.

Intro to second part even more confusing when there was attempts to sound-sync beat movement, I simply did not see that there were trick being made in the background.

Third half, extremely nice tricks, no doubt about that but it seemed to have much more focus on the camera angles, lightning setup and rotating views than the actual tricks being performed. Far away 3:rd person setups with little perspective to height, speed or difficulty of the trick unless you are 100% familiar with the map and location.

Lastly, 5 minutes of credits rolling? Entire cast, including volunteers at Quakecon 2007 included in the texts? Nice outro with solo, even better last sequences with nebula/sp4rky and a nice comic ending.

Much of the skill behind the tricks got hidden away due to clumsy authoring, where editor narrowed in on effects and attempted to be original instead of putting the team and the tricks in focus.

Music choice was excellent, even thought end of first half did leave me a bit dizzy after completely random beats.

Having several soundtracks was a nice addition.

Quality of the movie was well above average, which also is expected since its demanded by the communities viewing the movies.

Variety of tricks was nice and having a few captures added a nice break.

Skill from the players was excellent, as we all know. In the scene, then EH has only one true competitor: IT.

Sadly the movie did not live up to my expectations and after a long wait, it already now feels like something that would not stay for long on the drive. Personal opinion, EH2 was far better edited, and that’s what made it great. EH3 could have been great, but it left much to wish for.

A massive thank you to TeamEventHorizon for continuously showing people how to bend the laws of physics and extending yourselves to the realm where impossible is nothing; you inspire many people with what you do, keep it up.

Just a note Perkalainen, pezz added the quakenet mirror not knowing we made changes to the file they sent us. That mirror is now down. Just letting you know because we added skins, demos, useful links, some images, and demo that got left out of the version you downloaded. If you are interested in those you might want to dl another version.

  7. Perkalainen on January 31, 2008 2:21 pm

sp4rky, that is very thoughtful, I will download that version also and enjoy the demos in the client. Well appreciated.

Burning on DVD after download and watching on TV like in cinema!

    great!

After watching 1st time i was not much suprised and a bit bored. After watching 2nd time, 3rd and more its just GREAT. Wonderful Video. Music 5/5, but music in EVHO² was better. I missed the action in the music. The tricks r just awesome, you cant do it better. Or maybe in EVHO 4? 5/5 for the perfomance and teamwork. Minus points for the lag, i couldnt really enjoy. Effects 4/5 because i think in EVHO² you got some more ideas. Overall 5/5

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO team event horizon

    btw. i LOVE part 06:10

  12. sp4rky on February 6, 2008 4:22 pm

Nice to here, thanks for the review. The music disappointed me because no work was really put into it seemed. The editor just synched the video to music tracks.

For Event Horizon 2 me and pezz mixed a bunch of stuff together which I think added more energy in to Event Horizon 2 in the music department. For EH4 I hope to be working with the editor again to make some good tracks.

Totally awesome video, just caught it randomly on QuakeUnity. I’d love to know where I can find a list of the maps that were used? Are they available for download?

    Hello ! A little help !

I really did like the movie, I think it’s harmonious, and the effects are brilliant (thumbs up).

But I’m missing one thing in your .zip guys :)
Railgun trail effects. I suppose you’ve used some sort of file + cvars, would you be so kind to drop them down here ? I’ve been banging around emails for 3-4 days now, noone seems to answer :O

Thank you in advance. J. :)

  18. sp4rky on May 3, 2008 12:14 pm

It is a setting in q3mee I believe, which is the q3 movie makers mod that ebola and pez both used for eh2 and eh3.

  19. Jacob on May 4, 2008 5:31 pm

    Wow, thx for that.
I’ve found something like MME on google, not MEE.
    Am I correct ?

  20. sp4rky on May 4, 2008 6:38 pm

Yes, sorry for the typo. That is the correct version.

  21. Jacob on May 24, 2008 12:06 pm

That mod didn’t seem to work.

Could anyone help me with this ?

  22. Amigo on May 30, 2008 9:14 am
